Maya Bay Closure August–September 2025

Maya Bay is Taking a Short Break for Nature

From August to September 2025, Maya Bay — one of the most iconic destinations in Thailand — will be temporarily closed to allow its delicate ecosystem to recover and regenerate. This seasonal closure helps preserve the coral reefs, marine life, and natural beauty of the bay for future generations.

Can I Still Visit Phi Phi Islands?

Yes! Our daily Phi Phi island tours are still running. While you won’t be able to step onto Maya Bay beach, you’ll enjoy stunning views from the boat and explore other highlights of Phi Phi such as:

  • Pileh Lagoon

  • Viking Cave

  • Monkey Beach

  • Snorkeling spots

Unique Wildlife Sightings

If you're lucky, you might spot a Blacktip Reef Shark near Maya Bay — a sign that the restoration efforts are working and marine life is thriving.

Why Maya Bay Closes

The closure is part of Thailand’s effort to implement sustainable tourism. Over-tourism in the past caused damage to coral reefs and local marine habitats. The Department of National Parks now regulates entry and limits foot traffic to give nature time to heal.
